BBN
is the company that developed the Arpanet for the National Security
Association in 1993, as an answer to the cold war threat of interruption
to national communications in the event of a nuclear strike. After
CERN's development of the browser interface, HTTP protocol and the
HTMl file format, the World Wide Web kind of piggy-backed on top
of and totally redefined that network, creating today's Internet.
Anyway,
BBN started it all, in one sense.
By
1995 they were an ISP and they teamed up with the agency BBDO to
form an immersive community environment called BBeNergy.
This
image was the 3D chat room that Doug and Eric designed and executed
in Studio Pro: the BBeNergy Diner.
We
liked the Coca Cola sponsored retro fridge.
