Being a kiwi (a natural-born, beer swilling, sheep-shagging New Zealander) made selection of a mascot a no brainer for doug, which was handy, as he has no brain.

The shield that the knight errant carries is a slice of kiwi fruit, and you may notice that the lance (a number seven windsor and newton sable brush) bears three kangaroos notched as trophy icons. Are there three dead australian destriers out there, lying in the lists? We may never know. Other symbolism abounds, and each example is as inane as the next.

14 stars (in the style of the four stars of the southern cross from the New Zealand flag) decorate a twisted, wind-blown banner or pennant. There is a regimental plaque from the Countess of Ranfurly's own, a New Zealand silver fern (emblem of the all blacks) a tiki head, the colors of Air New Zealand and a lobster for a helm. Also othe cloak is decorated with M.C.Eschers fish and fowl tangram.

Still, the clouds are nice. Very Michael Parkes.
