the late eighties thru early nineties, Doug was a sought after editorial
illustrator for Australian Penthouse. He was building his corporate
identity and branding firm, Studio Gecko , at the time, so he only
produced nine or ten pieces for the world's largest selling men's
magazine.
Ode
to bankers was a wry article challenging the then tsunami like rise
in lending interest rates, which, prophetically heradled the 1987
stock market crash whcih left many sidewalks gummy with the exfenestrated
remains of industry brokers and traders.
That
loss of such a noble slice of humanity was the source of many a
dry eye and several wet gullets around Australia at the time.
