Johnson & Johnson Ethicon is a division of J&J Medical, which dates back to World War I. J&J manufactured cat-gut sutures, sterile bandages and diverse wound dressings, among other vital wartime health consumables.

J&J wanted to remind its medical professional customers of this heritage, while promoting new products.

Gecko produced a marketing brochure promoting some new Ethicon initiatives (3D surgical digital imaging solutions, among others) and paying tribute to heritage.

The print piece was of exceptional production quality, with gloss and mat cell glaze, spot UV varnish and six colors throughout, and was successful as a marketing project as well as awarded as a design project.

The cover image was a photo-retouched picture of suture needles coming out of an electroplating bath.
