Pressman
Toys commissioned Doug, through Studio Designs, to design and illustrate
packaging for nearly a dozen toy and game products between 1994
and 1996.
Mancala
is a no-rights game, meaning any toy or game manufacturer can package
and sell the concept. As such, only the packaging distinguished
the product. Doug created the carved wooden border in 3D Studio
Pro and retouched and illustrated the"gemstones" with
the aid of original photography to create a compelling pack which,
notably, is still stocked as the Mancala game of preference by Toys-"R"-Us
today, ten years later.
