I decided to get back into the swing of naturalist illustration, and attempted to translate a gouache technique, of "feather-by-feather" or hair by hair as the case may be, painting using Corel painter and photoshop and a Wacom tablet.

painting feather barbules by the tens of thousands, is at best tedious, but it can lead to a zen-like torpor after the first seven or eight hours.
