Doug still rendered many story boards the traditional way, with pantone and magic markers, colored pencil and airbrush. Some sessions were so intense that six or more artists would start on a project for a major pitch, and work without rest for over two days straight. On The Molson Ice and M&M's pitches for Young & Rubicam, Doug worked four days without sleep, eating at the drawing board.

Y&R got both accounts, and Doug got a wee bonus.

In fact, of the nine accounts pitched for using Doug's artwork, only one was not successful, which was JWT's attempt to retain the troubled Bell Atlantic account. JWT were so impressed, however with Doug's work, that they brought him in again as the lead artist on their pitch for the Sprint account, which they won.

Doug and the Studio Design team subsequently worked on every major TV campaign for Y&R, JWT, Amarati, Puris and Bozell.
