company) as a client for Riptide in 1998. He gave business concessions
to secure the interactive agency of record position with SkyMall,
guaranteeing a higher public profile and first right of refusal
on a vista of interactive projects over the next three years.
Doug
developed, with Skymall CEO Bob Worsely, a comprehensive strategy
to move SkyMall from a call-center and print-catalog based enterprise
to an online sales channel for its 30 plus leading consumer brands
and 19 airline partners.
Various
Internet e-commerce and online community strategies were formulated
and implemented, the net result of which was the building and training
of an internal interactive team within SkyMall and the launch of
the revised SkyMall.com. SkyMall.com featured collaborative filtering
systems for consumer up-selling and advanced customer relationship
management, a sophisticated electronic fulfillment system and live
links to the call center operation.
