The company Doug was CEO of, Riptide, merged in 1999 with three companies to form Digital Lighthouse, which went public in early 2000. Riptide became the Internet Strategies Group for the entity, and was tasked with developing strategies by which Lighthouse would quickly take a premier position in the emergent e-business space.

The firm's focus was on technological support of customer relationship management. Core technologies included a robust e-commerce engine and sophisticated CRM suite, backed by an intuitive Knowledge Management solution and a global customer contact center operation.

The team defined and formalized a comprehensive suite of professional services in support of the firm's core technology. The USP was communicated by multimedia presentations, a web site, trade show presence and print campaigns, and Lighthouse quickly found market acceptance.

Strategic relationships with Sony, Visa and Merrill Lynch were extended by Doug and his team, and accounted for a large part of the firms $40 Million turnover in 1999/2000.
