Doug
decided, at the inception of Riptide, even though its field of play
was the World Wide Web, which manifested appalling graphics values,
and was extremely restrictive in terms of color space and size of
graphic, that his agency would uphold the highest standards of visual
communications.
Before
developing any corporate or marketing presentations, Doug used a
Mac-friendly 3D modeling program, Strata Studio Pro, and his native
wacom tablet illustration skills, to render a collection of topical
icons for use in Riptide presentations.
The
first round of icons were restricted to the 256 color web palette,
and had to be very small to load into web pages. By the time Riptide
went public however, there was a library of 300 plus sophisticated
3D icons, some of which were animated, and all of which were rendered
as high resolution print components as well as low resolution Web,
Flash, Director and Powerpoint graphics.
