ProteoMetrics was a bioinformatics firm specializing in protein identification from mass spectrometry experiments. As such the firm serviced the biotech industry, selling identification and data visualization software, supported by some high-end scientific and database integration professional services.

A typical MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization) experiment, for which ProteoMetrics software was designed, involves arranging a grid of tiny droplets, each containing slightly different protein samples in solution, on a gel matrix. These samples are then analyzed to determine the molecular and ion weights of their components, using a mass spectrometer.

To a mass spec scientist, this motif of a grid of droplets is therefore indicative of proteomics and the mass spec process. Whew! (Actually, dog just thought they looked pretty!).
