When
Riptide Communications was first formed in 1995 / 6, it was Doug's
intention to position the firm as a premier interactive communications
agency delivering a higher visual communications standard, strategically,
creatively and technologically.
A
riptide is an underwater current that pulls very strongly, but invisibly.
Doug wanted this firm to exert just that sort of behind the scenes
force on behalf of blue chip clients.
The
ellipse, which was relatively new as an internet motif in 1995,
was introduced to indicate the circular, orbital nature of Web based
communications, and to differentiate from the linear, beamed out
into space nature of television, radio and print. The web is a constant
interactive cycle of publisher contribution and user feedback.
